How I Make My Morning Matcha

Lately I’ve been interested in cutting back on my coffee intake so, I decided to give matcha a whirl about 6 months ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve tried a lot of different ways to make matcha, different powders and temperatures. For me, an iced matcha is the way to go and today I’m going to share with you exactly how I make my morning matcha.

First off let’s talk matcha powders. This ingredient is the most important because there are some powders that are more bitter than others and I’m happy I found one on the smoother side that even has biotin and collagen in it. I love using the jade leaf matcha green tea powder. Jade leaf has farm-direct organic Japanese matcha. You can find all their products here: https://www.jadeleafmatcha.com/

I like to use a reusable glass jar to make my matcha because I have just found that it’s the best glass container to hold all the goodness.

To make

I add the powder to the bottom of the glass jar first and then cover the powder entirely with  water. Then I’ll add a sweetener, lately I’ve been using raw honey but sometimes I will use a coconut brown sugar. I usually do a tablespoon of whichever sweetener I’m using that day. Then I go in with a handheld frother to mix everything up. You can totally just use a spoon or reusable straw to do this but I am a sucker for foam. I use this handheld mixer/foamer: https://amzn.to/3gH9vAu

Now its time to add some ice. I normally fill the glass almost to the top with ice because I just like it that way but you can add however much you want, a lot of people go with no ice which is totally ok too! I then add oat milk to a milk frother on the cold setting. I use this one https://amzn.to/2CcnvTM. I love my milk frother because it can do hot or cold and works for cappuccinos and other beverages as well. This is another step that is not crucial and you can absolutely skip it if you don’t have a frother or don’t feel like buying it. You can simply just add oat milk to the match and sweetener mix and it’ll taste just as delicious. I enjoy the froth because it makes it feel like cafe quality. I love drinking my matcha with these glass reusable straws: https://amzn.to/2CcoBim

And that’s it! Now it’s time to just sit back, have some *you* time and enjoy your matcha!
