So you’ve started growing your own food and you’re noticing something is eating away at your veggie plants? I came up with a homemade solution to help! I’m a really big fan of not using any store bought pesticides on my garden because I like to know that my veggies are free of strange chemicals. I came up with this homemade pesticide using ingredients you probably already have in your house right now. It’s super simple to do and has worked wonders on keeping unwanted pests out of my vegetable garden.

What you need

2 cups of water

2/3 cups vegetable oil

Hot red peppers (you can use chili flakes)

1 teaspoon (bleach free) dish soup

Glass or reusable spray bottle (this is my favorite glass bottle to reuse for garden formulas: https://amzn.to/39dzix6

Simply add all ingredients into a large bowl, stir and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning you will strain the hot peppers out of the liquid mixture. Make sure to strain out all the bits of chili flakes, I learned the hard way here and broke my spray bottle because some pieces of peppers made it up into my bottle and clogged it. You’ll need add you homemade pesticide mix into the bottle and you’re ready to go.

Important note: make sure you test the formula on one leaf before spraying your entire garden. This way you can ensure your veggie plants can handle the pesticide. Always good to test things out.

Hope this is helpful.

Happy gardening.
